Hi Everyone!
Yesterday I had the chance to open the new year by bringing a message at Set Free Church entitled, "What Will Be Your Legacy?" Many in the congregation responded and made re-commitments to the Lord after hearing it. In it, I examined the dying words or last known words of numerous famous people of our century. Words in times such as this often tell a lot. How will God and others evaluate YOUR life? What will others say about you when you are gone? In the Bible, we examined the legacies of people such as Job, Jonah, Peter, Paul, Rahab the Harlot, Mary Magdalene...most with questionable pasts or actions at times in their lives but who went to eternity with a good legacy. We also examined the life of Judas...a man with personal exposure to Jesus, had every opportunity to serve Him faithfully but whose legacy was one of betrayal and tragedy. We looked at the life of Solomon...a man of great wisdom of wrote most of the Book of Proverbs and yet himself lived the life of a fool and whose final thoughts as an old man in his writing in Ecclesiastes was that all in life was vanity and that when all was said and done....he found that the best thing was to just serve the Lord. However, no one knows whether Solomon ever actually repented for the ungodly life he lived or rather if his words instead were only the words of regret of a dying and defeated man. One would hope he repented and is in heaven today, but the Bible does not say one way or another and it is actually conceivable that King Solomon was the only person in the Bible who wrote canonized scripture and himself did not make it into heaven. This is a startling, sad and somewhat alarming thought and yet it is true. The wisdom of Solomon? Or the legacy of a fool? What will YOUR legacy be? I hope to post a copy of this very important message on my website under the "Media" section soon right here on this web site or check out the sermon notes in the "Forum" section. So please stay tuned and continue to pray for our ministry. May God bless you.
